A private studio dedicated to providing movement choices
that rebuild and refresh the body, mind and spirit.
THE EFFECTS OF LIFESTYLE ON THE BODY The fast and stressful pace of modern life, our eating habits, the effects of our air and environment, are leading to the mental/physical stress that causes our bodies to break down under the pressure. Our workplace environment has become more sedentary. Our leisure time has followed suit. We spend more time in front of the television than we do in movement, until we thrust ourselves into activity at a breakneck speed and create injury. “Multi-tasking” is the devotional practice of the moment as we rush faster and faster to get more and more done, allowing our personal needs to be shoved into the background. The immobility and chronic pain that results from not using our bodies as they were designed has not only restricted the movements in our joints, but also placed our bodies and muscles in an unbalanced configuration. Continuous, repetitive movements (such as sitting in front of a computer or a desk and many sports) may not affect us adversely for years, but when they do, re-setting a neuromuscular pattern in our brain becomes the challenge of a lifetime. Meanwhile, the pace and pressure of our daily lives produces wear and tear upon our minds, spirits and psyches until we experience a variety of ailments, some physical and some mental, in our frantic search to feel better without changing a thing! Through Hatha Yoga, traditional Yang style Tai Chi, and meditation, our dedicated teachers offer a variety of choices designed to rebuild and refresh body, mind and spirit. Thoroughly trained and educated in each of the traditions we teach, we can assist you in changing old habit patterns and creating new ones! Call us. We can help.
